WOOD-RIDGE POLICE MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Wood-Ridge Police Departinent is to enhance the quality of life in the borough by working in partnership with the community, This agency strives to offer excellence and professional police service while demonstrating the highest ethical and moval standards.

It is paramount that all officers will conduct themselves in a professional, fair, impartial and unemotional manner and in accordance with the constitutional rights of the people while enforcing the [aws, preserving the peace, reducing fear, and providing a safe environment for our residents to live and raise a family.

How Do I Become a Wood-Ridge Police Officer?

To be considered for a job as a Wood-Ridge Police Officer, you need to take a civil service test, which will "place you on a list of candidates that the Wood-Ridge Police Department can draw from. The test is administered approximately every 2 years. The Civil Service site can be found at https://www.state.nj.us/csc/

Firearms Payments

The Wood-Ridge Police Firearms Unit is now accepting payments for all firearms applications through the PD Linx Wood-Ridge website.
 
Once you go on the site under citizens page, you will find the FARS payment tab, enter all your information to proceed to the payment page. Please make sure you indicate the proper payment that is to be made; Firearms Identification Card/ Permit to Purchase, make sure to enter the number of permits you are applying for.   Make sure you have your FARS Confirmation number which you will find in your application.
 
Please do not call requesting your confirmation number. 
 
Once your payment is made and processed your application will be opened and investigated.  If there are any questions or concerns regarding your application Detective Marchitelli will contact you.
 
Applications will not be opened until payment is made.
 
Once your application is either approved or denied you will receive an email indicating the status of your application.  If you are approved all of your documentation is released to the applicant through an email from the NJSP (FARS System).  This includes your identification card and permits to purchase.  If you are denied you will receive certified mail explaining the reason for the denial. 
 
We will not be accepting checks and or money orders for any firearms applications starting on 04/07/25.

The Wood-Ridge Police Department has equipped all its police officers with Panasonic Body Worn Cameras. These cameras are attached to the Officer’s uniforms and will record both audio and video. The BWC (Body Worn Camera) will enhance the trust between the police and the community by promoting officer transparency and accountability.
