2026 Wood Ridge Summer Recreation Program

Registration for the 2026 Summer Recreation Program will be held May 1st through May 31st online at www.woodridgenj.gov. Fee is $150 per child and is due at the time of registration via credit card. Registrations cannot be accepted after the May 31st deadline.

The program will run from Monday June 29th through Friday July 31st. The hours for the program will be 9:00 a.m.-12 noon, Monday through Friday. There will be no Summer Recreation on Friday July 3rd & Monday July 6th in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. Please do not have your children arrive before 8:45 a.m. Our staff is not required to be at the doors until 8:45 a.m. and therefore your child may be unsupervised if they arrive too early. Please make sure that you have your child picked up by 12 noon. All children in 1st through 4th grade must be picked up by an adult (no exceptions).

There will not be a designated snack time. It gets very hot so please provide your child with sufficient water labeled with their name on the water container.

Three t-shirts will be given to all registered participants. The new T-shirt must be worn to Summer Recreation each day. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for Summer Recreation. Shorts, New Summer Recreation T-shirt and sneakers are great. Please no crocs, sandals, slides, backless shoes, flip flops or Heelys (shoes with wheels). If your child does not wear sneakers, they will have to sit out from field, yard/park and gym games. Please make sure that your child leaves his or her valuables at home. This includes electronic games, IPOD’s, Pokémon Cards, Dolls, Stuffed Animals, Toys etc. If they bring any toys from home, we will take them and return them end of day! We are also asking all children to put their phones away and have fun during the hours of 9-12 noon. Please help us out by asking your child to keep their phone in a pocket or bag. The only valuable that Wood-Ridge Recreation is responsible for is your child.

Doyle Facility: This year, 1st – 3rd graders will have Summer Recreation at the Doyle School (250 Wood-Ridge Ave), and will enter each day only via the Doyle Gym entrance, on Highland Avenue. Parents will not be allowed in the building at all. W-R Summer Recreation Staff will be at the doors to check your child in each day. If your child arrives late and the doors are closed, you/they should knock and someone will let them in. Daily dismissal will be from the Highland Avenue Gym.

Summer Recreation Wood-Ridge Doyle Facility (Grades 1st to 3rd) Schedule

WRHS FACILITY: All 4th through 8th graders will have Summer Recreation at the WRHS facility (258 Hackensack Street), and will enter each day only via the WRHS Gym entrance, 540 Windsor Road. Parents will not be allowed in the buildings at all. W-R Summer Recreation Staff will be at the doors to greet your child each day. If your child arrives late and the doors are closed, you/they should knock and someone will let them in. Daily dismissal will be from the WRHS Gym for all 4th -8th graders, at 12 noon.

Summer Recreation WRJSHS Facility (Grades 4th thru 8th) Schedule

The fee due at registration is $150.00 per child, $300 for two children (siblings), $450 for three children (siblings) and $600 for four children (siblings), etc.

Please note: Registrations will not be accepted after May 31st.

Some of the activities offered:
This Summer, 1st through 8th grades will go Bowling at Lodi Lanes, and the 4th through 8th grades will go to the Inline Skating Club of America in North Arlington. (please note: Trip days are different depending on grades) Summer Recreation will also offer Waterslides, inflatables, Arts-n-crafts, games, contests, field day, specialty days, tournaments, sports & loads of fun!

In the event of extreme heat or inclement weather the program will be held as usual however the schedule may be modified to provide additional indoor activities.

We will once again continue our zero-tolerance policy. Profanity or language deemed inappropriate is prohibited. If your child is involved in a verbal or physical altercation or is involved in a bullying situation, they will be suspended from the program. If suspended they will not be allowed to attend Summer Recreation for a pre-determined number of days regardless of the schedule. Please remind your child that the Summer Recreation Program is an opportunity to meet/make friends and have lots of fun in a safe manner. At Wood-Ridge Summer Recreation we ask everyone to respect each other & treat each other with kindness.

We look forward to seeing the children again and we welcome any new Wood Ridge children who may be attending W-R Summer Recreation for the first time.
